After posting my first video about 8 Things I Miss About Guam, I started thinking about so many other things I miss from my beautiful island home! If you’re a newcomer or you may be moving to the island soon, here are more things I miss about Guam!

8 Things I Miss About Guam:
Guam Nightlife and Entertainment:
Hiking, Snorkeling, and Scuba Diving on Guam:
1. Crown Bakery! Every now and then we would treat ourselves to the delicious donuts from Crown, located in Barrigada. There are a lot of awesome bakeries and donut shops all around the island, but Crown Bakery was closest to where we lived. Just a half dozen of their simple glazed donuts was perfect every time 🙂
2. Consistent weather! It’s a no-brainer that Guam has a tropical climate year round, but what I miss is how I knew what kind of day it was going to be, and I didn’t have to pack extra clothing or equipment. I especially missed the warm Guam weather when it was winter out here in Virginia 🙁
3. Tempura Egg Poki Bowl! Though I know how to make my own tuna poki, I don’t know how to replicate Onigiri Seven’s tempura egg. This spot is located on the Tumon strip across the Hyatt hotel, and the portion for the price was really hard to beat. Their delicious tuna poki bowls were our go-to anytime we craved poki!
4. No tax! This is a funny one, but you have to understand–after living on Guam my whole life and never seeing a tax item on my receipts, this was definitely something new I had to adjust to living out here in Virginia. It does somewhat balance out since import costs shipping things to Guam naturally raise the prices all around.
5. Mighty Purple! This tropical cafe is located in Agana, and they specialize in açaí bowls and smoothies. The setup is so fresh feeling! They also have some savory items on their menu, and one of my favorites is their taro bread sandwiches. Who wouldn’t want a purple sandwich?? Definitely try their turkey taro sandwich with the Dinanche ranch–it is beyond yum!
6. Teaching dance! A few years before I left Guam, I was teaching at Body Arts Dance Studio, located in Agana. They usually offer majority ballet foundation classes, but I was hired to teach hiphop, jazz, and contemporary. Guam has an amazing dance community, and I absolutely miss working with my students, coming up with new choreography and ideas, and also seeing those ideas come to life on stage when we would have their seasonal concerts!
7. Tapcilong! You must try this dish at The Kracked Egg, an awesome breakfast spot located in Tumon. Pork longaniza, beef tapa, chicken tocino, garlic fried rice, eggs–what could be better?! Kracked Egg was definitely one of our favorite after hours spots to get some awesome breakfast food 🙂
8. Sunrises and sunsets! Though I’ve seen a few nice skies stateside, there’s just something unique about Guam’s skies where the sunrises and sunsets are absolutely breathtaking! The neat thing is that you don’t even have to be beachside to witness the amazing colors. Almost every day you could see a gorgeous sky with vibrant colors, almost like something straight out of a painting!
